U-15 USYNT March Roster Analysis

March 2026

Romualdo Aguirre, striker for Monterrey's Academy

Head coach Ross Brady calls in a largely new group of names. All but nine of the players selected are getting their first team camp opportunity, further expanding the 2011 class pool. This is exactly the type of exploration you'd like to see in a domestic camp. U.S. Soccer has taken a much more effective approach to this U-15 class than they did last year.

The roster

GK, Landon Stern, Barca Residency
GK, Henry Wang, Charlotte FC
GK, Thomas White, Philadelphia Union
LB, Zorion Civil, Orlando City
LB/CM, Ian Miller, Portland Timbers
RB, Aiden Appiah, Colorado Rapids
RB, Gage Lewis, Columbus Crew
CB, Reggie Bailey, San Jose Earthquakes
CB, Dempsey Biller, Chicago Fire
CB, Will Moddelmog, Houston Dynamo
CB, Harrison Storey, Chicago Fire
CB, Wes Wolfley, Phoenix Rising
DM, Immanuel Adewunmi, Columbus Crew
CM, Bradley Castro, New York Red Bulls
CM, Dinolen Shang, San Jose Earthquakes
CM, Levi Welch, LAFC
AM, Elvis Caushaj, Columbus Crew
AM, Gabriel Vasquez Carmichael, D.C. United
W, Arman Alagha, Barca Residency
W, Williver "Blessed" Chea, Atlanta United
W, Christopher Fitanidis, Cedar Stars Bergen
CF, Romualdo Aguirre, Monterrey
CF, Oscar Olsen, Houston Dynamo

All but three players were in either the September or October camp. My assumption is that there will be another camp in March featuring a largely new group, giving opportunities to players who have been patiently waiting.

Roster reactions

There are some really exciting first-time additions to this camp, most notably: Miller, Wolfley, Shang, Welch, Fitanidis and Aguirre. Miller and Fitanidis are both in my 2011 class top 20 and Aguirre is a player I recently became aware of that will be ranked very high in the next edition this summer. He is a left-footed, technical, creative and pacey striker that flashed moments of domination at Philadelphia Union's recent Snow Bowl. His team Monterrey ended up winning the U-15 division.

Miller is one of the most creative and exciting players in this class. He is a left-footed playmaker that can play in midfield or at left back. U.S. Soccer has him listed as a defender.

Wolfley isn't even the highest-rated 2011 at Phoenix Rising, but he is a high-floor center back that has deserved a look.

Shang is a player I've admired since my U-14 talent ID process last year. He can do so many things well in the midfield — ball recovery, press resistance, playmaking with both feet and ball progression.

Welch is a solid midfield prospect that does a ton of things well in possession and Fitanidis is an explosive, direct winger in the mold of a player like Julian Hall.

Some of the other players receiving their first team camp include: Stern, Wang, Civil, Moddelmog, Caushaj, Vasquez Carmichael, Alagha and Olsen.

White, Appiah, Lewis, Bailey, Biller, Storey, Adewunmi, Castro and Chea have been in a camp before, but none of the players on this roster were in the last camp where the team competed in Cyprus. That team in Cyprus is likely considered the core of the preferred group right now, but with this continued exploration, many of these players will have a chance to add their names to that list.

Of the returning players, I really like Appiah and Bailey and believe they have a chance to be core players for this age group. Adewunmi and Chea also bring intriguing skill sets that can help this team.

It's important to note that Biller is the son of a high-ranking talent ID employee at U.S. Soccer. I'd be remiss not to say I don't think Biller is a top 15 center back in this class, so his selection is disappointing from an ethical standpoint.

Top 10 eligible players that have not been in camp

AM, Jackson "Papo" Gordon, Valencia CFGordon is in contact with U.S. Soccer and over a year ago he was one of only two 2011s called into the U-14 80-player roster with the 2010s, so he is clearly seen as a top talent by the federation. Gordon is unfortunately dealing with some growth-related injuries and has not played in several months and it's unclear when he'll be back. His team, Valencia, will be at GA Cup, but it's not likely that Gordon will get to participate.

CM, Leo Woehl, Columbus Crew
Woehl's continued absence is a complete head-scratcher, especially when you see that three of his teammates have been called into this camp. Most who have evaluated Columbus Crew's 2011 class would tell you that Woehl is very clearly the top player in that group. His omission is truly puzzling.

W, Nosa Osagie, Minnesota United
Minnesota United doesn't typically have a lot of players get selected to USYNT camps, but Osagie is more than deserving. He plays as kind of a second striker for Minnesota, but he'd be most effective as a left or right winger or even a left wingback.

CF, Carson Starrett, Inter Miami
Starrett is one of the top strikers in this class and is still yet to be called into a camp.
CM, Jaethan Irwin, Phoenix Rising
Irwin debuted for Phoenix Rising's first team (!) last weekend. He is elite athletically and has the tools to be a dominant midfielder. I find it interesting that his teammate Wolfley is here, but Irwin is not.

CB, Malachi Joseph, New York Red Bulls
Center back is the position group that I think U.S. Soccer is misreading the most, which has become somewhat of a consistent theme at the younger age groups. Joseph has consistently played up for New York Red Bulls, so they clearly value him. He has the size, he is a lefty and he has the ability on the ball.

CB, Kai Simmonds, Philadelphia Union
Simmonds is a player that keeps getting better and better. I was super impressed with his performance at the Snow Bowl last month against top academies. He has size, pace and he is incredibly tenacious and physical — something we don't see often from young defenders anymore.

LB, Andre Campbell, Inter Miami
Campbell is a player I continue to rate in this class. He is a two-way left back that does a lot of things well. Hopefully he gets his chance soon.

CB, Mason Washington, LAFC
Washington is another top center back in this class that continues to get overlooked. He also plays up with the 2010 team and does very well. He is probably the best pure defender in this class.

DM, Hudson Cicala, FC Cincinnati
Cicala has a super polished game as a six and does a ton of things at an above-average level. He deserves a look in the near future.

Roster grade: B+

There are some roster selections that I truly love like Aguirre, Miller, Fitanidis, Bailey, Appiah and Shang. I love how quickly U.S. Soccer identified Aguirre as a player to bring in even though he plays in Mexico and has only played for Mexico to date. In fact, he recently played up an age group for Mexico. It's a great sign that he's willing to see what U.S. Soccer is all about and I hope he enjoys his experience.

I still think there are some highly questionable selections, especially at the center back position. There are still some very talented players that have not been given an opportunity. Hopefully that changes soon.
